Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy focuses on gross motor skills, delayed development, and injury recovery by concentrating on strengthening techniques, balance, and coordination. This type of therapy promotes achievement of skills in:

  • Mobility - getting from one place to another through walking, crawling, rolling
  • Strengthening - promotes independence in development skills like sitting, crawling, standing, rolling, walking.
  • Locomotor skills development - jumping, hopping, running, skipping
  • Transfers - moving from one position to another (standing to sitting, sitting to standing, lying to sitting)
  • Positioning - promotion of correct body alignment and improved functional abilities
  • Equipment assessments and recommendations
  • Sports injuries, spinal cord injuries, TBI - traumatic brain injury, burns

Examples of Diagnoses that may benefit from PT: Developmental Delay, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Down Syndrome, Neuromuscular disorders, Torticollis
