Patient and Community Advocate
Ability is proud to go above and beyond for our patients by providing a Patient and Community Advocate. Sylvia Cano-Negron, LCSW is an experienced social worker with 35+ years of service. Ms. Cano-Negron spent many years working in the local hospital system advocating for children and families with serious health and financial needs. Some of her vast experience includes work as the coordinator for the pediatric bone marrow transplant team; the Oncology Social Worker for a hospital treating children with cancer and blood disorders; and the Program Director for Any Baby Can.
As a social worker, Sylvia coordinates many of our community initiatives and uses her skills to ensure patients are cared for and families receive the support they need. She sat on the state commission to effect change for Medicaid children who need hearing aids and continues to coordinate our outreach programs to the families we serve.
Sylvia also has a special needs son, which enables her to understand the unique situations and additional stress that families with special needs children face. Because of her social work skills and her own personal experience, she is a wonderful resource for the wealth of services available to them.
